APPOINTMENTS

Brandon, our acclaimed main artist, is highly sought after and currently booked a few months in advance for large-scale work. However, we can often accommodate smaller pieces sooner. For large pieces, sleeves, custom designs, as well as cover-ups and restorations, Brandon requires in-person consultations that can be booked here to ensure we capture your vision accurately and assess the existing work for cover-ups. If you’re unable to come in person, you can reach out to our studio via text at 602-688-2534 and please provide the following information about your design and mention that you're specifically looking to book with Brandon! We also maintain a cancellation list for those seeking earlier openings.

  • Tattoo Details (the more information the better so we can fully understand your vision)

  • Black & White or Color (if wanting both please describe what parts you want color and what colors)

  • The Location on Your Body (with a clear photo of the area so this can be used for drawing purposes)

  • The Size in Inches

  • Any Reference or Example Photos

Casey, our apprentice graduate, is available for both appointments and walk-ins. While appointments will always take priority, walk-ins with Casey are welcome when space allows. His walk-in hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays through Sundays from 12pm to 5pm. Casey offers high-quality work at more affordable rates, catering to various budgets. If you'd like to book an appointment with him, you can contact the studio at 602-688-2534 or schedule directly into his calendar online here. He also offers tattoo consultations, which can be scheduled here as well.

Important Info:

  • A 3% convenience fee applies to card transactions; cash avoids this fee. Deposits are card-only with no additional fee.

  • You must be 18 or older with a government-issued ID to receive services. Minors (16+) need a parent or guardian with a government ID, the minor’s original or certified birth certificate, and the minor’s government ID (passport, permit, drivers license). Permanent guardianship paperwork is required if the parent/guardian is not listed on the birth certificate.

We look forward to serving you, whether with Brandon for larger projects or Casey for smaller pieces!

HOW OUR TATTOO PROCESS WORKS

At Red Art, we focus on providing a smooth and enjoyable experience. To keep things efficient and minimize wait times, we primarily operate by appointment but gladly welcome walk-ins and will do our best to accommodate everyone!

Brandon, our specialist in large scale work, books a few months in advance. To schedule with him, use our online consultation form or book a free in-person consultation. Brandon requires a $100 deposit per session, applied to your tattoo cost. Deposits must be made by card for easy refunds; we do not accept cash or checks for those. Please notify us of cancellations at least 48 hours in advance for a refund. Brandon’s rate is $200 per hour, with a $150 minimum charge for small tattoos. With over 11 years of experience, his expertise is well worth the investment.

Casey, our junior artist, handles most walk-ins. For same-day appointments, call ahead to check availability or book through our online system. If the online schedule doesn’t show an opening, call us, and we may be able to still fit you in. Casey’s rate is $100 per hour, with a $80 minimum charge for tattoos that take less time than that. Book in to secure his affordable rates!

Booking in advance ensures a reserved spot and helps you avoid wait times for walk-ins. It’s easy and convenient—why wait?

1) BOOKING AN APPOINTMENT

2) WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU ARRIVE

We’re excited to see you at your appointment! Please arrive on time and allow extra time for parking, as our lot can get busy. If you're running late, just let us know. When you arrive, a friendly staff member will greet you. If we're busy with another client, please be patient and feel free to relax on our comfy lobby couches.

Remember to bring your ID. Minors need to bring their birth certificate, ID, and have a parent/guardian with their ID. You’ll start by signing a release form.

3) WHAT TO EXPECT DURING YOUR APPOINTMENT

At Red Art, we ensure a smooth and personalized tattoo experience. When you arrive, your artist will greet you and present your design.

Brandon prepares designs in advance. He’ll review and adjust the design with you, using Procreate on an iPad for quick changes. You’ll also see a digital mockup of the tattoo.

Casey, our junior artist, creates designs on the spot. He doesn’t require a deposit for drawing, so you can collaborate directly. He also uses procreate, allowing for easy adjustments and visualization.

After you approve the design, we’ll print and apply a stencil onto the skin that shows placement and size for your final review. Once everything looks good, we’ll start the tattooing process.

Try to relax during your session. The first 10 minutes might be uncomfortable, but deep breathing can help manage the sensation.

If you have any questions or need adjustments, just let us know. Afterward, we’ll check in and give you a chance to admire your new tattoo in the mirror!

4) WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER YOUR APPOINTMENT

When you leave, you’ll get an aftercare sheet with key details on healing, infection signs, and our contact info. Following these instructions is crucial for smooth healing. We also offer aftercare products for sale.

While you’re responsible for your tattoo care, our team is here to support you. Feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.

5) APPOINTMENT CANCELLATIONS & RESCHEDULING

To ensure a smooth experience and avoid a need for a second deposit with Brandon, please cancel or reschedule by contacting us directly. We request 24-48 hours' notice—more is appreciated to offer the slot to others. Failure to provide notice or a no-show will require a new deposit. This policy helps us manage our schedule and maintain excellent service.

5) COMPLIMENTARY TOUCHUP GUARANTEE

We offer a complimentary touchup for tattoos completed by us within 6 months, provided by the original artist. After 6 months, a sitting fee applies for touchups.

The touchup includes a second pass to enhance details like shading and highlights. This is especially useful for coverups or restorations to keep the tattoo vibrant and prevent old ink from showing through.

Touchups are also beneficial for high-friction areas like hands, feet, fingers, wrists, ankles, and inner biceps, where wear and fading are common.

FREQUENTLY ASKED TATTOO QUESTIONS

  • Brandon’s rates are $200 per hour. For small tattoos that take less than an hour, the minimum charge is $150. With over 11 years of experience and a unique skill set, his expertise is well worth the investment. Given that your tattoo will be a permanent part of your body, it’s a piece you’ll be proud to show off for a lifetime.

Casey’s rates are currently $100 per hour, with his minimum being $80 if the session takes less than an hour. Book now to take advantage of his current rate!

  • Brandon

Brandon creates his tattoo designs in the order of appointments and typically finalizes them on the morning of your session due to his tight schedule. As a result, we do not send designs out in advance. When you arrive for your appointment, Brandon will present the completed design for your approval. If you’d like any adjustments, he’s happy to make revisions. Using our iPad design software, these changes can be made quickly and seamlessly to ensure you’re completely satisfied before the tattoo begins.

Most clients are very happy with the initial design and only request minor tweaks. It’s rare for clients to be dissatisfied with the work or to decide not to proceed. Our detailed online form and in-person consultation process are designed to capture all the necessary details and ensure your vision is brought to life—something many of our clients have praised in their reviews.

    Casey

Casey creates his designs on the spot at the studio, so we’re unable to provide a preview in advance. While we understand the desire to see your design ahead of time, we’ve found that discussing and finalizing the design in person is the most effective approach. This method helps avoid any confusion or second-guessing that can arise from communication over phone, email, or text. By reviewing the design together in person, we can ensure everything is just right before moving forward.

  • Our insurance permits us to tattoo clients aged 16+ and older.

For minors, a parent or guardian must be present with a government-issued ID. The minor must also provide a physical original or certified copy of their birth certificate and ID. The parent or guardian must approve the tattoo design and remain on-site for the entire session for liability purposes. If the parent or guardian is not listed on the birth certificate, they must present permanent guardianship documentation.

  • To ensure a smooth and comfortable tattoo experience, please follow these tips:

    • Rest Well: Get a good night’s sleep before your session.

    • Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water and bring a bottle with you. We offer complimentary water bottles to help keep you hydrated.

    • Eat a Satisfying Meal: Have a filling meal before your appointment to prevent feeling lightheaded.

    • Avoid Alcohol and Blood Thinners: Refrain from consuming alcohol or any blood-thinning substances 24 hours before your tattoo.

We provide organic snacks and juice boxes to help maintain your blood sugar levels and keep your energy up during your appointment. We also recommend bringing additional snacks, candy, or other food if your session will be longer than 2-3 hours, as your blood sugar might drop due to adrenaline surges from the pain.

If you're getting a full-day sleeve session, our location is conveniently situated near Circle K and Pizza Hut. Feel free to take a break and grab something from the gas station or enjoy a meal if needed.

Additionally, consider bringing a jacket as many clients get cold, wear comfortable clothes, and bring a book, show, or headphones to keep yourself entertained.

Please shave the tattoo area on the morning of your appointment and keep the skin moisturized to help the needle glide smoothly and ensure the ink saturates effectively.

  • Tattoo healing is a gradual process that typically takes 2 to 4 weeks. During this time, your tattoo will go through several stages of healing, and it's essential to follow proper aftercare to ensure the best results.

Initial Healing (First 1-2 Weeks): In the first week, your tattoo will be red, swollen, and may have a layer of peeling skin. This is a normal part of the healing process as your skin begins to recover.

Continued Healing (2-4 Weeks): As the days progress, the tattoo will start to feel less sore and the peeling will diminish. However, the deeper layers of skin are still healing, and it's crucial to keep the tattoo clean and moisturized.

Complete Healing: Even though the surface of your tattoo may appear healed, the underlying layers can still be in the process of recovery. It’s important to avoid activities that might irritate the tattoo, such as excessive sun exposure, swimming, or picking at scabs.

Proper aftercare, including keeping your tattoo clean, applying a gentle moisturizer, and avoiding irritation, is key to achieving a vibrant and well-healed tattoo.

  • At our studio, we excel in realism and sacred geometry but are proficient in a wide range of styles, including linework, traditional, stipple shading, color and black-and-white portraits, coverups, neotraditional, minimalistic, and more.

Brandon is highly versatile and adept at almost any style you desire. With his extensive experience, he can handle intricate and diverse tattoo techniques with ease. Whether you’re looking for detailed realism, complex sacred geometry, or any other style, Brandon is equipped to bring your vision to life.

Casey also offers a variety of styles and is continually honing his craft. While he can work in multiple styles, some more advanced techniques may still be a learning process for him. If you’re interested in a style that requires specialized skills, it's a good idea to contact us first to ensure it matches his current expertise.

  • We welcome photos and videos during your tattoo session, provided that both the artist and client give their mutual consent. We encourage capturing these moments to create lasting memories, and we love seeing clients share their experiences on social media. Sharing your tattoo allows us to reshare it and helps us connect with more followers and potential clients.

Please note that photos are strictly prohibited in the studio for intimate tattoos at all times. This is a legal requirement, and violations of this policy are taken very seriously.

  • Most of the time we have TKTX numbing cream in stock available for purchase!

While it can ease discomfort, please be aware of the risk of allergic reactions. We generally apply it towards the end of a tattoo session for sleeve work, after the skin has been broken, to ensure better effectiveness. Applying it to unbroken skin may not provide optimal results. Use the cream at your own risk.

  • We are dedicated to creating a supportive and relaxing environment for all our clients. To maintain a serene and unobstructed atmosphere, we may ask individuals or groups to leave if they disrupt the studio's ambiance.

We allow a maximum of two support persons with the client receiving the tattoo, and no additional guests are permitted. Extra guests can overcrowd our lobby and create too much stimulation for our artists. Support persons should avoid standing in walkways or interfering with the artist’s workspace.

For minors who are not receiving a tattoo, an additional adult must be present to supervise them if the parent or guardian is getting tattooed. This is essential for safety, as the studio contains health hazards such as biohazard waste and contaminated needle sharps containers.

  • While we generally avoid copying other artists' work, we are happy to use your reference for smaller designs. Our goal is to infuse your idea with our own unique style and creativity, making it a one-of-a-kind masterpiece. Feel free to bring in your design, and we’ll collaborate to create something truly special just for you.

  • 1. Personal Significance: Decide if you want your tattoo to have personal meaning or if you're simply interested in the design itself.

    2. Style: Determine the style you’re drawn to—whether it's traditional, realism, black & white, or color. Consider how you might feel about mixing styles if you plan to get additional tattoos in the future.

    3. Placement and Pain Level: Think about where you want the tattoo and the associated pain level. Also, research how well different areas of the body hold up over time, as spots like hands, wrists, ankles, and feet can fade more quickly.

    4. Size: Choose the size of your tattoo and how it will fit with your body and future plans.

    5. Artist Selection: Research reputable tattoo artists who follow safe practices and have a strong portfolio. Avoid opting for the cheapest option—invest in quality work for something you'll have for a lifetime.

    6. Preparation: Be prepared for the investment and commitment of getting a tattoo, both financially and personally.

  • We offer white ink tattoos but do not provide blacklight tattoos. There is insufficient research on the effects and potential adverse reactions of blacklight ink in the body.

  • If you have any of the following health conditions, we require you to consult with your doctor before getting a piercing or tattoo. You may also need to provide a signed doctor’s note confirming that you’re cleared for the tattoo or piercing procedure:

    • Hemophilia

    • Epilepsy

    • Cancer

    • Taking Blood Thinners or Blood Pressure Medications

    • Seizures

    • Recent Surgery

    • Fainting

    • Skin Lesions or Dermatitis

    • Narcolepsy

    • Diabetes

    • Any other condition that affects your immune system or impairs your body’s ability to fight infection

Getting tattooed while on blood pressure medications or blood thinners is not recommended due to potential complications. Both types of medications can affect your body's ability to heal and may alter your skin's response during the tattooing process. This can lead to increased bleeding, longer healing times, and a higher risk of bruising.

Although we have tattooed a few clients on these medications, with the consent of their doctor, they have experienced significantly more bleeding and bruising than usual. These issues can impact the tattooing process and its final appearance.

For your safety and the best results, we advise consulting with your healthcare provider before getting a tattoo if you are taking blood pressure medications or blood thinners. If possible, it may be best to wait until your medication regimen changes.

  • It’s important to avoid getting tattoos while on Accutane (isotretinoin) and to wait at least one year after finishing the medication before considering new tattoos.

    Here’s why:

Accutane reduces oil production, leading to dry and thin skin. This can impair the skin's ability to heal effectively. Tattoos need a healthy, well-hydrated environment to heal properly. Thinner, drier skin increases the risk of complications like prolonged healing, irritation, and infections.

Additionally, Accutane affects collagen production, crucial for wound healing, which can raise the risk of scarring or keloids (raised scars) at the tattoo site.

Even after stopping Accutane, its effects on your skin can persist. Waiting at least a year allows your skin to fully return to its normal state, improving healing outcomes and reducing the risk of complications.

  • If you're a woman getting a tattoo in a more intimate area, please note that our tattoo floor is open and does not have private rooms. To accommodate your privacy, we can schedule your appointment on one of the days when the shop is typically closed, such as Wednesdays when Brandon works.

For specific areas, here are some clothing tips:

    - Back Tattoo: A flannel or jacket worn backward can provide coverage while allowing access to the tattoo area.

    - Sternum Tattoo: Consider wearing a loose, flowy shirt that you can lift to expose the skin while keeping your breasts covered, or use nipple pad covers or a jacket to maintain coverage.

    - Hip or Butt Tattoo: Loose, flowy pajama-style shorts that you can pull up or roll down work well to expose the area being tattooed.

We ask that clients avoid full exposure of intimate areas, as we serve clients of all ages, including young children.

  • We cannot tattoo clients who are pregnant due to potential health risks for both the mother and the unborn child. Here are some key reasons why:

    1. Infection Risk: During pregnancy, the immune system is compromised, making the body more susceptible to infections. Getting a tattoo involves breaking the skin, which could lead to complications.

    2. Chemical Exposure: Tattoo inks contain various chemicals that could potentially affect the developing fetus. While research is limited, it’s better to avoid any risk during pregnancy.

    3. Healing Challenges: Pregnancy hormones can alter skin elasticity and sensitivity, making it more difficult for a tattoo to heal properly. This can lead to issues with the final appearance and quality of the tattoo.

    4. Increased Discomfort: Pregnancy often brings heightened sensitivity and discomfort, which can make the tattooing process more painful and stressful.

For these reasons, we prioritize the health and safety of our clients and their babies by not performing tattoos on pregnant individuals.

We are comfortable tattooing mothers who are breastfeeding, as current research indicates that tattoo ink is not transmitted through breast milk and does not pose a direct risk to the baby. We have tattooed several breastfeeding mothers, including Emily, the owner, and have not observed any additional risk.

However, we recommend that you wait at least 6 weeks postpartum before getting a tattoo. This allows your body to focus on healing from childbirth and ensures that it is not dividing its resources between healing from a tattoo and recovering from the physical demands of giving birth.

  • We permit the inclusion of ashes in your individual ink cap for tattooing, understanding the deep significance of this practice. While there is limited research on the effects of embedding ashes in the skin, we perform this service at your request and risk. Clients who have chosen this sacred ritual have reported that their tattoos heal well and appear just as vibrant as those without ashes.

  • You should avoid swimming for up to 4 weeks after getting a fresh tattoo. Swimming can increase the risk of infection and complications. Additionally, submerging your tattoo in water can cause the skin to become wrinkled, potentially affecting the tattoo’s appearance and healing process. Exposure to sunlight and chemicals in pools or hot tubs can also damage the tattoo and hinder proper healing. This goes for submerging it in any standing water, like baths, hot tubs, hot springs.

  • We accept various payment methods, including Debit, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Apple Pay, and cash. Please note that we charge a 3% card processing fee, so if you'd prefer to avoid this extra cost, we recommend bringing cash.

Additionally, we now offer Afterpay for a 6% convenience fee, allowing you to manage your payments in installments.
